How We Started
Judie founded The Culinary School of Fort Worth, which offers an after-work culinary program where people can earn a chef certificate while keeping their regular jobs. Judie is host of Judie Byrd’s Kitchen, which airs Saturday mornings at 11:00 CST, on Family Net Cable TV. She has written five books including, A Mother’s Manual for Holiday Survival (with Kathy Peel), Help! My Family’s Hungry, Meals in Minutes, Super Suppers Cookbook and Super Suppers Cookbook 2.
A member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, Judie has shared her recipes and cooking ideas in various magazines including Family Circle, Reader's Digest, Women's Day and Shine. She is a frequent guest on local and national TV and radio. She is food editor of Fort Worth Magazine and HomeLife Magazine, and spokesperson for Honeysuckle White Turkey. Judie has studied cooking at the CIA in Hyde Park, NY, Le Cordon Bleu School of Cookery in London as well as in the Orient, France, Belgium and Italy.
Judie lives with Bill, her husband of 43 years, in Fort Worth, TX. They have 3 married children and 5 grandchildren - all of whom eat Sunday dinner at their home each week.
